As is well known, often it is necessary to consume a quick meal to get out of a rush; something that Uruguayans recognize, allowing them to enjoy dishes like Revuelto gramajo even more, a true delight.

Description

This dish called "Revuelto gramajo" is defined as a culinary delight, as its ingredients can be viewed from different individual perspectives, but together they create a palate-pleasing experience. The classic scramble is made with potatoes, ham, and eggs.

History of the dish

The first theory takes us to a restaurant named Río Bamba, where Horacio Gramajo and Arturo were gathering ingredients, and amidst this work, the idea of mixing chopped potatoes with ham and eggs was born.

Yes, out of nowhere. Realizing they had created an excellent dish, the recipe spread throughout the country, becoming a typical dish.

Now, although the previous theory is well-founded, there is another that seems more like a legend. While it has been clarified that it comes from a book, it remains interesting to read them both.

This story takes us back to 1880, to a time when our protagonist — Artemio Gramajo — a highly regarded colonel who had a friend named General Julio Roca, of whom he was a club partner where Artemio spent nights playing various betting games; and where it is said — without many details — that the famous dish originated.

Thus, the story of Revuelto gramajo has both a historical theory and a legend from a book. But despite the unclear origins, it’s clear that Uruguayans and Argentinians will always appreciate the creation of this dish, which has helped and satisfied generations.
